Save Energy With HVAC Upgrades
With the right upgrades, you can conserve power, reduce pollution and increase your home’s value. Many improvements can even pay for themselves through lower utility bills. Save energy in your Valdosta, Georgia, home with one of these HVAC upgrades:
Programmable Thermostat
You can set a programmable or smart thermostat to turn down your HVAC system while you’re away or asleep. It can then bring your house back to a more comfortable temperature when you’re at home or awake. Choose a different schedule for weekdays and weekends. That way, you can lower your bills without feeling too hot or too cold. With many devices, you can make changes wirelessly with your smartphone or computer. Some smart thermostats can also connect to cameras or sensors to learn your routine with minimal programming.
Geothermal Heat Pump
A geothermal heat pump works like a conventional heat pump, but it exchanges heat with the ground or water instead of the outdoor air. Since the temperature below the ground stays almost constant all year, it’s much more efficient than a traditional unit. It has an indoor air handler that attaches to a series of underground or underwater pipes that contain water or refrigerant.
Geothermal systems are more expensive than many other systems, but they’re also more durable. The underground or underwater components last for decades. However, you’ll need a nearby body of water or soil that’s appropriate for installing pipes. Geothermal heaters and air conditioners are difficult to place in rocky ground.
Ductless HVAC System
Ductless HVAC systems have one or more indoor air handlers connected to an outdoor unit. They won’t lose energy to leaks in ductwork, they’re easy to install, and you can choose different temperatures for different indoor air handlers. This lets you avoid heating or cooling empty rooms.
